THIS IS WHERE A DESIGN REVOLUTION BEGINS

A SNEAK PEEK AT THE TRAIL AHEAD

Only Mulliner could design the beautiful two-seat grand tourer that replaces the Bentley Mulliner Bacalar. Similar to its forerunner, the vehicle bears the name of a stunning body of water; in this case, Lake Batur, a 16 km2 crater lake near Kintamani on the Indonesian island of Bali. The Bentley Mulliner Batur*, which is now sold out, provides a sneak peek at the design cues, amenities, and materials that will characterize Bentley in the years to come.

THIS IS WHERE A DESIGN REVOLUTION BEGINS

The Batur is Mulliner's most recent coachbuilt car, with an 18-car maximum manufacturing run. The Batur is a sleek hard-top coupé with a new, minimalist design language that will characterize the Bentley style in the upcoming era of electric cars, in contrast to the roofless Bacalar, which has a barchetta-like body and offers an elemental, open-air driving experience.

THE POWER OF NO PRECEDENCY

The Bentley Mulliner Batur's engine is incredibly powerful. The most advanced version of Bentley's iconic W12 has been exclusively upgraded to produce a power output of around 740PS. This will result in a thrilling drive for the driver that goes above and beyond the Bacalar's extraordinary performance.

The first Batur to be built will be an engineering prototype, known as Car Zero, in accordance with Mulliner's standard coachbuilding practices. It will be outfitted with digital chassis technology that has been perfected on the Continental GT Speed. On the test track, where the Batur's driving qualities will ultimately take shape, Car Zero will be pushed to the limit.

FUTURE PLANS FOR BENTLEY DESIGN

The introduction of the Batur is a turning point in Bentley design history, not only for Mulliner. This is so because it offers a leaner, more focused, and more simple version of automotive luxury, reflecting Bentley's design vision for the future.

As a result, the front and rear LED light apertures are actually smaller and more precisely defined. The grille has a more angular, technical form, and three-dimensional contrast-painted parts create visual depth. But it's not only about the minute particulars. The car appears to be sitting on its back axle due to an exquisite, long bonnet, which highlights the car's powerful haunches and wide track. The long bonnet ends in a more erect, self-assured version of the iconic Bentley grille, an undeniable symbol of power and prestige. Together, these characteristics provide a genuinely striking new shape. The Batur is an exceptional example of form following function because it is a vehicle designed only to transport people.

A PRESENTATION OF SUSTAINABLE MATERIALS

In particular, the materials used in the production of luxury cars are expected to undergo significant modification in the upcoming years. The Batur, which has a host of genuinely cutting-edge technologies and finishes, demonstrates how Bentley will pave the way in this brave new future.

A sustainable alternative to carbon fiber, high-performance composites made of flax are strong and light while leaving a significantly less environmental footprint. As an alternative available only to the Batur, sustainably produced leathers made with methods that use significantly less water and chemical than conventional tanning are also offered, as are carpets made from recycled yarn. The car also uses leather-like fabrics that are by-products of the coffee roasting process.

AS EXPENSIVE AS IT IS UNIQUE

Precision additive manufacturing, also known as 3D printing, and premium or precious metals have been combined in novel ways to create new opportunities for creating something special, from the custom titanium exhaust finishers to the optional 18-carat gold interior detailing, which includes a hallmark to confirm its authenticity.

This amazing car offers possibilities for customization and personalization in almost every area, unlike any previous Bentley before it. Customers can choose custom finishes on a variety of high-gloss materials, such as lacquered or painted woods, carbon fiber, and the new flax-based natural fiber from Batur, using high-gloss, laser-etched veneers in the distinctive W12 engine'soundwave' design.
