A Toyota bZ3 electric sedan with BYD technology is intended for China
A new electric automobile is called the Toyota bZ3. Yes, the Japanese are that far behind, but it is actually Toyota's first electric vehicle, and it is only made for China. The FAW-Toyota joint venture produces the Toyota bZ3. It will debut in late Q4 in the Chinese electric vehicle market.
Toyota stuck with their hybrids for so long that it completely missed China's EV revolution. Even worse, the majority of Toyota's hybrids are HEVs rather than PHEVs. In China, the only New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) that are eligible for different subsidies and other benefits are EVs, PHEVs, and FCEVs.
Toyota is therefore purchasing technologies from others in order to quickly launch certain EVs on the Chinese market. The GAC-Toyota-produced bZ4X, which uses a GAC electric powertrain, was introduced by Toyota earlier this year. Toyota chose BYD to build the bZ3. To be more precise, to Fudi Industrial, a BYD wholly-owned subsidiary that sells EV technology to other automakers. But Toyota's proprietary e-TNGA architecture serves as the foundation for the platform.
The size of the BYD Blade LFP battery pack used by the Toyota bZ3 is not yet known. Rear-wheel drive is a feature of the bZ3. Two different versions of the 'TZ200-XS002' motor are available: one with 183 horsepower and the other with 244 horsepower. Both models have a 160 km/h top speed restriction. Size: 4725/1835/1475, with a wheelbase of 2880 and a curb weight of 1835 kg. The 183 horsepower car (pictures below) has tiny 16 inch tires, compared to the 244 horsepower car (white and pictures above).
The Toyota bZ3 has a decent appearance, but it's fairly dull when compared to all the exciting new products that Chinese automakers are introducing these days. The coolest element is certainly up front, where the nose is reminiscent of the Toyota 86.
