Even more attractive than the sedan, the 2023 BMW 3-Series Touring

The redesigned 2023 BMW 3-series  has been unveiled in Touring form by the German automaker shortly after it made its debut in the U.S. market.

A wide range of diesel and gasoline versions of the updated 3-Series Sedan will be available in Europe, including the 318i, 320i, 320i xDrive, 330i, 330i xDrive, M340i xDrive, 320e, 330e, 330e xDrive, 318d, 320d, 320d xDrive, 330d, 330d xDrive, and M340d xDrive. The same powertrains are available for anyone interested in purchasing the new 3-Series Touring, albeit there is no 320i xDrive Touring and only a 320e xDrive model.

Interior and exterior overview

A 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder engine with 156 horsepower and 184 lb-ft (250 Nm) of torque powers 318i-badged vehicles. In 320i versions, power increases to 184 hp and 221 lb-ft (300 Nm), while the 330i adds even more oomph to 245 hp and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm). The 3.0-liter turbo six of the M340i xDrive, which has 374 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque, sits above this engine in the petrol family (500 Nm).

The 2.0-liter turbo four used in the electrified 320e and 330e produces 163 horsepower and 221 lb-ft (300 Nm) in the 320e and 184 horsepower and 221 lb-ft (300 Nm) in the 330e. The 2.0-liter turbo-diesel four in the 318d and 320d produces 150 horsepower and 236 pound-feet (320 Nm) and 190 horsepower and 295 pound-feet (400 Nm), respectively. The 3.0-liter turbo-diesel six that powers the more potent 330d is rated at 286 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque (650 Nm). The M340d, with 340 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque, is the strongest diesel vehicle (700 Nm).

The European 3-series BMW   has undergone all of the same design modifications as those that will be offered in other areas. Due to BMW's reworking of the headlamps and kidney grille, the front end is rather appealing. The back has also undergone changes, most notably with the installation of new taillights and a bumper.

The redesigned 3-Series Sedan and Touring's interior has seen little changes, save for a new curved display that houses a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.9-inch infotainment screen.

Both the new 3-Series Sedan and 3-Series Touring will be produced by BMW at its facility in Munich. For North America, the Sedan will also be produced at the company's San Luis Potosi, Mexico, plant. A Chinese-spec Sedan will be produced at the Shenyang plant run by the BMW Brilliance Automotive joint venture.
